A BORROWED PLANET

earth

“We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”  Chief Seattle

Today I drove through some of the most amazing scenery in the country. The architecture of the homes, the changing colors of the trees, all came together to provide a picture-perfect postcard that will forever stay in my mind. These words from Chief Seattle, powerful in their simplicity, invite us to reflect on our relationship with the planet and the generations to come. Too often, we move through life focused on the here and now, caught up in the demands of our daily lives. But this quote serves as a gentle nudge, reminding us that our actions today will ripple into tomorrow, shaping the world that our children and grandchildren will one day call home. This precious gift called Earth is alive, breathing, and full of beauty. The rivers that flow, the mountains that stand tall, the forests that whisper in the wind—all of it entrusted to us for a time. But it is not ours to keep; it is on loan, a sacred trust.

Dear Angels, our responsibility, as I understand it, is not only to enjoy and appreciate this gift but to protect it, to care for it, and to ensure it remains vibrant and life-giving for those who will come after us. Just as we wouldn't borrow something precious from a friend and return it damaged, we are called to tend to the earth with the same respect and care.

Dear Ones, in your spiritual journey, you are not separate from the earth; you are part of it, deeply intertwined with the rhythms of nature. The air you breathe, the food you eat, the water you drink—all come from this beautiful planet. And in that interconnectedness lies the understanding that the choices you make now—how you live, consume, and treat the earth—are not isolated actions. They are threads woven into the fabric of tomorrow. You have the power to make choices that honor this sacred planet. Each small step you take to make the planet more sustainable carries the energy of hope. It speaks to the children of tomorrow, saying, "We see you. We care about the world you will inherit. And we are doing our part to make it a better place." As stewards of the earth, we remind you to live mindfully. To honor the land beneath your feet and the sky above your heads. To remember that this planet is not just a resource to be used but a home to be cherished. Walk gently on this earth, knowing that every step you take leaves a footprint in time. As you move forward, may you do so with hearts full of love and gratitude, knowing that you are borrowing this world from the children who will one day inherit it.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to pay more attention to the footprint I am leaving and the legacy I want the children to inherit.
