A Reason To Smile
“If you're reading this...
Congratulations, you're alive.
If that's not something to smile about,
then I don't know what is.”
― Chad Sugg
There is a video that I listen to quite a bit by Abraham-Hicks called “Morning Rampage.” It reminds us that “this is a good morning, this is a new morning.” I don’t really need a reminder of this as each day that I open my eyes is a blessing and this particular day really exemplifies that. On this day 47 years ago, I got a second chance at life by receiving a kidney transplant. I celebrate this day even more than my birthday and in fact consider it as the most important day of my life. However, in reality we do not need a life-changing event to develop this attitude of gratitude about life. Life itself is a reason to celebrate, isn’t it? We have no guarantees beyond this very moment that we will draw another breath. Life is precious. It is not something to take for granted and only count the ticks on the clock to try to get through another day. And so I will continue to choose to celebrate each day when I open my eyes and I will continue to make the first words out of my mouth be “thank you Lord for the blessing of another day. Help me to make the most of it.” And then I smile which my friend Mari-Etta says is “Spirit Magnifies Incredible Loving Energy.”
Dear Angels, I have been one of those who sit in an office chair wishing for time to hurry along so the work day could end and then going home to eat, sleep and do it all over again. I know what that feels like and I know what it feels like now to wake up and want to pack as much experience into each day as possible, wishing for a little more time in fact to spend enjoying life. The difference is amazing. I wish everyone on the planet could experience the same amount of love and peace in their lives as what I feel each day. I would gladly break off a piece of my heart to give to others who cannot find their spark. Stephanie Meyer says, “without the night, we would never see the stars.” I pray that those stuck in the darkness can lift their heads and see the miraculous sight of the twinkling stars and begin to journey home to their hearts.
Dear Ones, you came here to this planet at this time to do more than just exist. Indeed, you have responsibilities and thus need to do what is necessary to take care of yourself. We encourage you, however, to find a balance. If you are miserable and wishing away your precious time, then you are not in the right place to be fulfilled with your life’s work. You will always be the person you think you are. You can change your perspective of yourself at any given point in time. There is no need to go back in time and change anything in your past. You can start right now in this present moment. Instead of dreading the time you will spend during the day, whether at an outside job or in the home, choose to be the most productive individual where you are. Make your focus the work at hand instead of the hand on the clock. Motivate yourself to do the best job possible and let that be your reward whether others notice or not. What’s important is that you notice and take a sense of pride in how you spend your time. And then dream, Dear Ones. Dream of what excites you, of what it would be like to spend your day in joy. What does that look like to you? That is what matters: finding your inner connection to love as you are a being of love and light. When you come to the end of your life’s journey, will it matter how many hours you spent at work? Is that what you want to be remembered for? Think of those in your life that you have said goodbye to. What do you remember about them? Was it how well they did their job or how they made you feel? When you figure it out, then you will know what to do with your own life. Dear Ones, you are only here for a minute. Make each second count.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to get lost in enjoying each breath as I walk on Mama Gaia’s back, loving this incredible adventure called life and smiling all the way.
