Ahoy And Farewell Captain Kori And Pirate Rick - Forever In Our Hearts

“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” ~ Gandhi

The world is missing two bright lights tonight and I believe they are both flying high and experiencing beautiful newfound release from pain and suffering.

I heard of Captain Kori’s passing while I was at an amazing Native American powwow this afternoon. I had been caught up in the energy of the drumming, singing, beautiful attire and wonderful dancers. My friend Sally sat by me and asked if I was okay. How could I be okay knowing that Kori’s family is shattered by their loss and the millions of lives he touched in the world are experiencing such sadness? The tears I shed are for the loved ones left behind. I know Kori is unshackled from his 11-year journey here on earth that was riddled with pain, hospitals, tests, surgeries and the ordeal of undergoing two heart transplants. When I heard his story, I immediately felt a bond with him from one transplant recipient to another. While I just celebrated a milestone in my own life, I knew that Kori would have a different outcome. His little body was rejecting his second heart and it was just a matter of time. His mom shared with us today that the sand ran out of his hourglass. He had a sweet fascination with pirates and pirate ships. Today, he got to take his ultimate voyage on his ship. I enjoyed every moment that he shared with us, ever so humble and loving. I watched one of his last videos where he was excited to give us the “full tour” of his room which was filled with gifts from those of us who cheered him on daily and wanted to make all his wishes come true. He ended that video with “I love you all.” That’s how I will remember him and will hear his sweet voice saying that to all of us whose hearts he touched on a very deep level. I cannot even begin to imagine the heartache his family is experiencing right now. His sweet mom, Pixi, has been constantly by his side lifting him up and making sure his needs were met as much as possible. Listening to her share the news with us today broke my heart. One of the many gifts that Kori gave was bringing a family together from all over the world. It was as if he knew Pixi and her family would need us to hold them up at this time. Kori will live on in our hearts, our memories and through his beautiful words of love. Sail away on your ship, Captain. We’ve got your mum.

My amazing friend Ricky Morrow also decided to sail away today. He was our loving pirate of the Angelic River Family but more than that, he was my dear sweet friend. I remember the first time I met Rick. It was at Love and Light Spiritual Emporium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He and his sweet wife, Josie, always welcomed me with open arms and huge hugs. Ricky always was so humble and gave with his whole heart. Rick struggled with chronic health issues yet he always had a smile on his face. He was thrilled when we agreed to do a land blessing on his property by a protected Gumbo Limbo tree. I remember his sweet smile that day as we stood there honoring the land. He was all about honoring Mama Gaia and had a deep love for our earth planet. We will hold her close Ricky. You go rest. We’ve got your sweet Josephine as well. Our family will look after her. We know you are not far away and we will keep you in our hearts and issue a pirate aargh in the mornings on Cuppa. Fly with the angels my friend.

Dear Angels, death and grief are a part of this human experience that we have a hard time dealing with. We know that in reality there is no death as the spirit being that exists inside the human vessel cannot be extinguished. When the body dies, the spirit transforms as it is energy. This we know and understand yet it doesn’t change the fact that our human self misses a loved one who is no longer physically there. As humans, we have emotions and senses that long for the touch of a loved one and the sound of their voice. Knowing that we will not be able to hold someone again is part of the acceptance and letting go during the grief stages. It is the hardest part of grief.

Dear Ones, if there was no love, there would be no grief. The passion you feel toward each other during your life experiences makes it harder to let go once a loved one leaves. We encourage you to be grateful for the passion, the memories, the love that was shared. Sometimes a very unique being appears in the world to remind you of your own magnificence. They are simply reflections of who you are. You are love and light walking in a human body. If the light you see is bright, it is simply a mirror reflecting that light inside of you. What will you do to honor the one holding the mirror? We would love to see you following their example. Hold the mirror up for those around you so they can recognize their light. One characteristic of those who shine brightly in the world is humbleness. Your mirror has two sides. If you turn it outward, you are serving others and helping them shine. You are feeling grief because of a humble being who helped you see yourself. So we ask again, “what will you do to honor them” and how will you carry on their legend?

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to make beautiful memories while I am in my body and love immensely.
