Be Kind To One Another

“Let my soul smile through my heart and my heart smile through my eyes, that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts.” ~ Paramahansa Yogananda

One of my favorite pastimes is people watching. Today I had an opportunity to do just that as I walked through a huge marketplace in Colorado Springs. Many were consumed with their shopping and ignoring anyone around them. Others made eye contact and, for the most part, smiled. And then there were those who were friendly, holding open doors, making conversation, etc. As I “read” the room, looking at the faces and especially the eyes of those around me, not too many were smiling. Perhaps shopping was stressful or they were not finding what they wanted to find. Or perhaps, like so many in the world today, they see themselves living in troubled times and are having a hard time smiling about anything. I tried to engage as many as possible by speaking a hello or making eye contact and smiling. My thought was to share a moment of kindness and let my heart smile through my eyes, as Yogananda encourages us to do.

Dear Angels, in a world where we are faced with so much contrast every day can we really make a difference with our smiles and our words of kindness? Some of the criticism from people who are not awake spiritually is that being kind is showing weakness and that people take advantage of us when we are anything other than competitive and aggressive.

Dear Ones, first of all why are you listening to others and allowing them to influence your thoughts, words and deeds? More specifically, why are you letting anyone have your power? You know what is best for your body, mind and soul. Secondly, your ego mind will keep you in a state of seeing yourself as separate from each other and believing that there are those who are awake and those who are not awake. That is a judgment call, and it is not your place to take anyone’s inventory of their life. Lastly, when you are coming from a state of unconditional love and sharing that energy with others you are living your purpose and being your true authentic self as a spark of the Divine. Always stay in your heart and not your head. Coming from a place of love will keep you connected with your higher self and all of Divinity. So, Dear Ones, smile away at every opportunity. Open doors, buy a stranger a coffee, or whatever act of kindness you are led to do. It is in these acts that you are showing love to yourself and to the world.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to let every part of me be seen, known, and loved.
