COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS, NOT YOUR TRAGEDIES

“Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

I had to remind myself of these words today. It has been a hard month with physical illness and inability to do the things I love to do. I finally had enough strength yesterday to go to the store for a few supplies and to get some of the supplements I was out of. I was exhausted afterward and slept a few hours. I remember going into my car for something later that day but did not go anywhere at night. I am always aware of locking the car, but I may not have done so in my state of exhaustion. I went to the car this afternoon to get something I needed and discovered that someone had broken into the car and helped themselves to quite a few things. It is such a devastating moment to realize that people do this without regard for how anyone might be affected and how your sense of safety is shaken. Some items were recovered as they discarded them a few blocks away. My friends were amazing and helped me scour the neighborhood to look for anything else they might have thrown away.

Dear Angels, I know that no one is immune to bad things happening to us. It doesn’t help to beat ourselves up or go into fear in these situations. Going into victimhood only adds negativity to the situation, is destructive, and wastes precious time. The best way to deal with situations like this is to count the blessings, which I did. The car was not damaged and I still have it. Things can be replaced. No one was hurt. As I started making that mental list, my anger subsided somewhat and I made a choice to move forward from it instead of being stuck in what had happened.

Dear Ones, remember that you have the ultimate authority over how you think, feel, and behave. In life you will probably encounter many situations that do not seem fair or just. Refuse to hand over your power in any circumstance. When there is something that happens and you have no control over it, stop dwelling on it. Stand in your Divine authority as you move forward. Each situation is an opportunity for you to become stronger. Find the strength to rise above whatever situation presents itself. Fortify yourself with your faith. Pay attention to your mental attitude and stop judging things that happen as fair or unfair. Create your own path through resilience, compassion and love. Continue to count your blessings and move forward with your head held high.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste, y’all.

Today, I promise to
