FEET DON’T FAIL ME NOW

Poem by Jesse Stuart

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”  - Winston Churchill -

It is difficult to stand by and watch a loved one go through life’s challenges and feel so helpless. I am here with my sister, Billie, at a hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Her husband, Tim, lies in a hospital bed tonight, knowing that tomorrow his left leg will be amputated. I can’t even begin to fathom what that is like for either one of them. I know that I am supposed to be here to support my sister as she struggles with this. She knows how scared he is and that his life will be forever changed after the surgery. He is hoping that the pain will go away when the leg does. I’m just here holding space for both of them and praying that they will find some peace.

Dear Angels, as I drove through this city where I once lived as I attended college, memories came flooding back. They were memories of a happy time in my life full of promise and potential. It was a time before my world came crashing down with a near-fatal illness of kidney failure. I used those happy memories to pull on the strength to be there for my sister and her husband. Life can surely deliver some hard lessons, but it also prepares us for what we need along the way.

Dear Ones, as you acknowledge the topsy-turvy ups and downs of life, know that nothing happens by accident or coincidence. Revel in the good times and happy days. You never know when that is what will help you survive those valleys of life. Keep bringing the love in your heart to the surface so it can act as a buffer when you need it. You always have choices in life. Sometimes the choices lead you to a valley where you go through dark nights of the soul. Other times, your choices lift you up, up, up to a higher plane. Whatever is happening in life starts as a thought. That is how you manifest your experience and all that you call to you. Your thoughts and words are powerful. Pay attention to what you choose to focus on, as that is what you will see more and more of as you move forward. If you are constantly ignoring what Spirit is guiding you to do, ask yourself what that is all about. Is it a need to control, to be independent, or something else entirely? That is a conversation to be held between you and your higher self as you ask for more clarity. When you can humbly do this, you will find yourself putting more thought and effort into your decisions.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste, y’all.

Today, I promise to think before I act and always consult with my higher self.
