Gert and Billy Bob

“Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it so much the larger and better in every way.”  John Muir

I am on pet watch duty in a lovely place in Florida that is surrounded by nature. The two darlings that I am keeping company are Mani and Coco and they have given me a lot of smiles and giggles over the past week. I was told to expect a visit from the Sandhill cranes and I thought “how cool!” I have seen them many times as I have lived in Florida most of my life. So, I thought I might get a glimpse of them as they walk by the lake. I heard their distinct call one afternoon, a few days after I arrived. I walked to the back of the house which is a porch with an outside wall of sliding glass doors looking out at the lake. Standing there at the door was a magnificent creature, about 3 feet tall, looking in to see if anyone was coming to pay attention to her – at least the energy felt like a her so I went with that. I had been given instructions to feed them peanuts and there was a good supply of these in the room. I threw out a handful, much to their delight, and they proceeded to pick up the nut in their beak and beat it against the tile to crack it open, and then chase down the peanut to devour it. This has become a daily ritual now and I couldn’t be more thrilled as I stand side by side with these gentle giant birds. I talk to them, so I figured they needed names as that is what we humans do. They are now Gert and Billy Bob (yes, they are in the country so they get country names) to me and I bless them every day when they visit.

Dear Angels, as I visit and enjoy these gentle animals I cannot help but think of what it would be like if humans treated each other with this kind of reverent respect. I have seen many different species of wildlife out in the open and have come to understand how important it is respect their presence in their environment. Surely, we can find a way to do the same as we walk on Gaia’s back.

Dear Ones, animals read your energy just as you can read theirs. They know when they are safe with another animal or human. Like humans, they do not know cruelty until it is taught to them as they are pure unconditional love. You also come into the world in your newness as pure unconditional love. You come as a light to shine that love forth into a world of contrast. When you can see each other with your spiritual eyes and see only the innocence in each other, then you can exist together with respect and honor. Go back into your childlike state and feel into the awe and wonder. Examine your teachings of how you are to be in the world and see if they fit in with that innocence. Feel your magnificence as your heart fills with love. Let that be the energy that comes from you each moment and you will find yourself in a more peaceful place in your world.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to see others through the eyes of love.
