HONESTY

“It is only when we take chances that our lives improve. The initial and the most difficult risk we need to take is to become honest.” —Walter Anderson

Life is full of moments where we stand at the edge of comfort, staring into the unknown. A couple of days ago, I realized that I may be facing the third hurricane in the space of one month. It seems to be a metaphor for the state of our world right now. It is in the moments that we come face to face with these challenges that we begin to ask what is important and then make decisions about our life. Do we play it safe or take the leap? It is only when we take chances that our lives improve, but there’s a deeper truth that we often overlook. The most difficult and transformative risk we must take is not external, but internal—the risk of becoming truly honest with ourselves. Just like those intense storms, our inner storms stir things up and break things apart for us to pay more attention to them. When we take the chance to be honest, we begin the most profound journey of our lives. We step into the unknown not just of the world around us, but of the depths of our own hearts and souls. We begin to see what we truly want, what no longer serves us, and what we need to release. Honesty forces us to confront the stories we’ve told ourselves for years—the stories of "I’m not good enough," "I can’t change," or "This is just how life is." These stories crumble when faced with the power of truth.

Dear Angels, if we cannot be honest with ourselves, how can we be honest with anyone else?

Dear Ones, honesty is a gateway. It’s the key that opens doors to clarity, self-awareness, and ultimately, growth. But honesty can be terrifying. To be honest requires you to look at the parts of yourself you would rather ignore, confront the fears you’ve buried, and acknowledge the dreams you’ve told yourself are too far out of reach. Yet, if you’re not honest, how can you expect to grow? How can you expect to become the person you were meant to be? The fear of being honest is natural, but the rewards are extraordinary. When you take that first risk of honesty, everything else begins to fall into place. You stop hiding from yourself and the world, and in doing so, you unlock the courage to take bigger chances—whether in relationships, careers, or simply in the way you live day-to-day. We encourage you to take that first step today. Be honest with yourself about where you are and where you want to go. Embrace the discomfort that comes with truth, for it is only temporary. The growth that follows, however, will be life changing. Remember, it’s only when you take chances that your lives improve, and the most powerful chance you can take is to be authentically, beautifully, and unapologetically honest.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to deal with myself honestly.
