How Are You Dressed Today
“Be at least as interested in what goes on inside you as what happens outside. If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.” -- Eckhart Tolle
For most of my life I got it backwards! Seeing these words by Eckhart Tolle in black and white, it feels like they need to be on major billboards for the world to see. I know I am not alone in observing how the world has been (and still is) so obsessed with the outside. Our outer appearance has been the focus of marketing companies for as long as I can remember. We have been body-shamed, pressured, enticed and pretty much every trick imaginable to get us to focus our attention on clothes, makeup, diets, supplements – everything we might possibly need to make ourselves look better on the outside. Where is the same focus on how to “look” better on the inside, to be the best we can possibly be where it really matters?
Dear Angels, I believe that if a child is given the tools of self-confidence and self-love at an early age, there is a much better chance that they will continue to focus on developing from the inside out instead of the backward way the world has shown us.
Dear Ones, when you take care of your inner appearance, it will show up the same on the outer appearance. If there is beauty on the inside, there will definitely be beauty on the outside. It may appear as a glow. It may be the smile you have on your face. It could be a gleam in your eyes. However it appears, it is a result of what you have done to “dress” yourself on the inside. When you cloak yourself in the armor of love and positivity, no negative thoughts can enter to dim your appearance. There will always be happenings in the world that will try to draw your focus. There will always be something begging you to turn to a judgmental and criticizing thought. Let us assure you, Dear Ones, that whatever you focus on is what your outward appearance will reflect. If you want to focus on the hatred, discrimination, violence that the world wants to show you, those worry lines and the frown on your face will be what the world then sees you cloaked in. Is that what you want the world to know you by? Think about that before you answer. When someone thinks of you or speaks of you, what descriptors will they use? Did you shine a bright light and encourage others to do the same or were your words and attitudes condemning others and full of shouldas? This is not a judgment. It is merely an opportunity for you to look inside of you to see what you dressed yourself in today. We love you no matter what. We see your pure heart inside of you. Are you allowing others in the world to see it also or is it well hidden under the barrage of repeating words as you mimic what you are being shown and told of the happenings in the world? We encourage you to be an original, not a copy. What is your message to the world?
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to be unapologetically me and shine my light no matter what.
