"Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths."— Etty Hillesum

One of the most profound meditations I have done is sitting still and focusing on the space between thoughts. Going into that void is hard at first. There is a tendency to reach for the next thought, to keep rushing forward. We are so used to going and going and the silence is intimidating. Have you ever just sat in silence with someone? We think we have to fill the space with words but there is something so special about being able to be with someone else and just feel the energy instead of trying to make conversation. It is a very powerful experience.

Dear Angels, when we can become comfortable enough to just be instead of thinking we have to do, then we have entered that sweet space that some call “the gap.” In the ancient spiritual philosophy of India, there’s a term called ‘turiya’ which refers to the fourth state of consciousness. The ancient ones teach that the first state of consciousness is the waking state we all know, and the second and third are the dream state and dreamless sleep. There is a fourth state of consciousness which is thoughtless awareness. You can bring true perspective and balance into your life by moving towards this fourth state. Sogyal Rinpoche says, “When one past thought has ceased and a future thought has not yet risen, in that gap, in between, isn’t there a consciousness of the present moment; fresh, virgin, unaltered by even a hair’s breadth of a concept, a luminous, naked awareness? Well, that is what Enlightened Awareness is!”

If you need a visualization to get you to that space, imagine you can see your thoughts. They are energy swirling around you, relentlessly vying for your attention. Now step into a sound-proof booth where you can still see them but they have no power to reach you. Just observe and breathe. Allow yourself to disconnect, to take that break and fall into the peace that you are craving.

Dear Ones, stillness is a superpower. It is you taking control of your thoughts, your energy, your actions. It is hitting the pause button on the movie of your life. As each scene flows into the next and you feel caught up in a never-ending rollercoaster, you sometimes wish to step away. Stillness is that opportunity to do so. It is an alignment with space instead of form. Your thoughts create the form you see in your world. To be able to see beyond the form is to see the All That Is. It is in that Isness that you will find yourself, naked and raw as if you were a newborn baby. It is here that you realize the power you hold inside of you. Words are not needed in this space. Thought also is not necessary. It is you reclaiming You. We encourage you, Dear Ones, to enter into this state of universal consciousness. There is no roadmap to get you there. Simply choose to slip into it and free float with ease and grace. You will be glad you did.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to explore that vast openness that is the All That Is.
