JOY IS A LIFELINE

“Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive.” — Hafez
The best thing we can do in life is seek out the sparks of joy, the moments of awe, and the connections that remind us of the miracle of our own existence. Think about it for a moment. What stirs your soul? Is it the golden glow of a sunrise painting the sky with hope? The laughter of someone you love, ringing like a melody you never want to forget? Or perhaps it’s the stillness of a forest, where the rustling leaves seem to speak a language older than words. These are not mere fleeting pleasures—they are glimpses of the divine, breadcrumbs leading us back to the essence of who we are. The world can feel heavy sometimes. Shadows of doubt, fear, or weariness can creep in, threatening to dull the light within us. But here’s the secret: we were never meant to dwell in the dark. We were created to chase the light, to dance with it, to let it fill us until it spills over into everything we touch. When we stay close to what makes us glad to be alive, we align ourselves with a greater rhythm—a heartbeat that pulses through all of creation.
Dear Angels, joy isn’t just an emotion; it’s a lifeline. It’s the breath of God moving through us, reminding us that we are here, now, alive for a purpose. And what brings us joy is no accident. So, how do we live this out?
Dear Ones, staying close to what makes you glad to be alive doesn’t mean ignoring the hard things. Pain and struggle have their place, and they, too, can refine you. But even in the shadows, there is light to be found—something, someone, some small grace that reminds you to keep going. Cling to it. Let it anchor you. Let it be your defiance against despair. Start with intention. Pause today and notice. What quickens your pulse with gratitude? What makes you feel fully, gloriously alive? Maybe it’s the way music wraps around you like a prayer, or the sight of a child’s unbridled curiosity. Maybe it’s a quiet moment with a cup of tea, where the world slows down just enough for you to hear your own thoughts. Whatever it is, hold it close. Make space for it. Protect it like a flame in the wind. And then, go deeper. Let those sparks of gladness draw you into wonder. When you marvel at a starry sky, don’t just see the stars—feel the vastness of the universe and the tenderness of a Creator who hung each one for you to behold. When you laugh until your sides ache, recognize the holiness in that abandon, the way it knits you closer to the people around you. These are not distractions from the spiritual life; they ARE the spiritual life.
Angels Whisper: Staying close to what makes you glad to be alive doesn’t mean ignoring the hard things. Today, I invite you to take a step toward that gladness. Call the friend who lifts your spirit. Walk outside and breathe in the wild, living world. Create something, anything, just because it feels good to do so. And as you do, whisper a quiet thank you—to the universe, to God, to the mystery that keeps your heart beating. Because in that gratitude, you’ll find not just survival, but a life that glows.
Stay close to anything that makes you glad you are alive. It’s not just a suggestion—it’s a sacred calling. And in answering it, you’ll discover that the joy you chase is chasing you right back, eager to hold you in its embrace.
Today, I promise to seek out those experiences that fuel my soul.
