Know And Understand
“If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.” —Napoleon Hill
Thich Nhat Hahn wrote in his book Being Peace, “knowledge is regarded as an obstacle to understanding, like a block of ice that obstructs water from flowing.” We often find ourselves immersed in the vast sea of knowledge. We spend countless hours reading, studying, and accumulating information, believing that knowledge is the key to understanding. However, there is a profound paradox that we must unravel. Could it be that knowledge itself can become an obstacle on our journey towards deeper understanding, as Thich Nhat Hahn tells us?
Dear Angels, knowledge holds immense power. It opens doors, empowers us, and helps us navigate through life. But as we delve deeper into the realms of knowledge, we often encounter a tendency to become wrapped up in our own preconceived notions and biases. The more we know, the more we may feel compelled to defend our beliefs and reject alternative perspectives. This rigidity can hinder our ability to truly understand others and the world around us.
Dear Ones, knowledge is limited to what can be quantified, measured, and defined. It thrives on facts, figures, and logical constructs. However, the essence of spirituality often lies beyond the realm of what can be easily grasped through intellectual pursuits. It encompasses the intangible, the mystical, and the deeply personal. By relying solely on knowledge, you may overlook the profound truths that lie beyond the scope of your understanding. On the path towards true understanding, you must cultivate a balanced approach that integrates knowledge with intuition, reason with faith, and logic with love. Rather than seeking to accumulate knowledge for the sake of it, you must strive to integrate your knowledge into your lived experiences. Embracing the unknown and allowing yourselves to be guided by your inner wisdom enables you to connect with the deeper truths that lie beyond the limitations of knowledge. Through meditation, contemplation, and self-reflection, you can access a higher level of understanding that transcends the mind and touches the essence of your being.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to find the balance between knowledge and understanding.
