LAUGH AND EXHALE

Laughter, as they say, is the best medicine. I fully believe that having a sense of humor is as important as breathing. It has gotten me through many tough situations in life. Laughter can act as a natural stress reliever, helping to reduce tension and release pent-up emotions. It is a powerful coping mechanism, allowing us to momentarily escape from our worries and find a lighter perspective on our problems. Who wouldn’t want that, right?

 

Dear Angels, I often hear you laugh with me when I find myself getting too serious about this thing called life and realize that I need to lighten up. I often think about how we encourage little babies to laugh and cannot help but laugh along with them. Wouldn’t it be great if we continued doing that throughout life? The benefits of doing so would be monumental.

 

Dear Ones, when you find yourself getting too serious about situations in life, hold your breath for a moment. Just for a moment, allow your focus to go to what is missing. The human body requires oxygen to function. When it is deprived of air, the body sounds an alarm inside that alerts the brain to try to find a way to breathe. As the body becomes more tense, it goes into panic mode instead of relaxing and allowing the breath in. When you are in this dire situation, the last thing you think about is laughing as a remedy. We would say to you that it is exactly what is needed at moments when the body is reacting to stress and beginning to panic. In your day-to-day life, when you find yourself beginning to feel “cut off” from what your body and soul are crying out for, remember these words. You may not be able to go immediately to laughter, but head in that direction. Pause for a moment and realize that you have cut off an important need of the body and this is why you are feeling the way you do. Make a decision to relieve the tension that has built up, and the quickest way to do that is to laugh. Become like the little baby again, seeing humor in almost every situation. This is the best tool we can give you to use throughout your life.
