MORE THAN JUST A SUNSET
“Sunsets remind us that change is beautiful, and endings can be a celebration,” Morgan Harper Nichols
There are moments in life when all the BS, chaos, discord and drama comes to a standstill and a sense of awe and wonder is restored. For me, that happens when I see the sun setting over water. Tonight, I was determined to experience this. As I am currently on the west coast of Florida, I set out with one goal in mind – to capture that moment in all its glory. I am not familiar with this town I am in, so I just asked the GPS to take me to the pier which I heard from locals is the best place to view the sunset. As I was driving there, I could see the sun and I could see the water. For some reason, the GPS directed me to turn away from the water. Now, I admit that I am directionally challenged but I do have common sense and when I am told to turn east and the water is on the west, well it was a no-brainer. Yes, I disobeyed the GPS directions! Sometimes in life we have to assess the information we are given and see if it fits into the scenario of our puzzle. I made it to the pier after a couple of wrong turns because the GPS was not happy with me and kept trying to redirect me. But stubborn Teri took over and finally found a road named “Pier Street” – imagine that! As I stood there watching the miracle show in front of me, I thanked God for this beautiful creation and how it tirelessly continues day after day. My story of getting to the right place to experience it is also a testament to the fact that sometimes we have to ignore what others are telling us is the right direction when our gut instinct says differently. In listening to our own guidance system, we come upon miraculous moments where we would otherwise miss out on a blessing. Now, I have experienced many sunsets over the course of my life because it is one of my favorite things to view. However, as I watched and filmed it tonight something seemed very different. It is hard to explain and even sounds crazy to be saying it, but watching the sun descend over the horizon was like watching a diver jump into the water. In researching this phenomenon, I found that the sun appears to descend faster during the equinoxes. Hmm, Teri’s revelation of the day. It can be fun learning new things!
Dear Angels, it is said that watching a sunset can have profound effects on the mind and spirit. It offers a moment of quiet introspection, a chance to savor gratitude, and an opportunity to foster a deep sense of wonder and joy. As the sun begins its descent toward the horizon, a shift takes place, both in the sky and within us. There is something undeniably spiritual about a sunset—the colors that seem to dance in the heavens, the stillness that envelops the earth, and the quiet invitation for us to pause. In these precious moments, we are reminded of the vastness of creation and our own place within it. A sunset is more than just a beautiful ending to the day. It is a divine reminder that every cycle in life has a purpose. As the light fades and the day comes to a close, we are encouraged to reflect on what has transpired—our thoughts, our actions, and the energy we have contributed to the world. This reflection is not about judgment but about awareness. Did we live today aligned with our soul’s purpose? Did we nurture the connections around us with love, kindness, and compassion? Are we experiencing a quickening of the “setting sun” of our lives because of the season we are currently in?
Dear Ones, there is a deep lesson in the colors of the sunset. Pay attention to these colors as each hue represents a different aspect of life’s journey on earth. The fiery oranges and reds symbolize the passion and energy you carry, the drive that pushes you forward. The soft pinks and purples speak to the gentler side of your nature—the love you give, the peace you seek. And as the light finally dims into twilight, it is a reminder that rest is essential. Just as the earth settles into night, so must you find time to restore your spirits. We encourage you to look at the setting sun as a metaphor for surrender. You are invited to release the day’s struggles and burdens, trusting that just as the sun sets, it will rise again tomorrow. You are not meant to carry everything with you constantly. By letting go, you open yourself up to receive new blessings with the dawn. Watching a sunset is a time to connect deeply with your spirit guides and the divine presence surrounding you. In the quiet glow of twilight, you may hear the whispers of your guides, feel the gentle nudge of your inner wisdom, or simply bask in the reassurance that you are never alone on this journey. As you witness the sun dip below the horizon, take a moment to breathe deeply and feel the peace that comes with the closing of another day. Know that within every sunset, there is the promise of renewal, and just beyond the night’s shadow lies the brilliance of a new beginning. In peace and light, may you surrender to the rhythm of life and the grace of each sunset.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to keep watching the sunsets and remembering the promise of renewal they bring.
