MOVING PAST THE PAST

Hikers in colorful jackets walk along a green mountain ridge, under a cloudy sky. Vast mountain landscape in the background.

"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.”  Tennessee Williams

I went to a play tonight called “Grandma Gatewood’s Walk.” It was based on the true story of a woman who had suffered miserably during her lifetime, first at the verbal abuse of her father and later at the physical abuse of her husband. She became famous as the first solo female thru-hiker of the 2,168-mile Appalachian Trail. Amazingly, she did this at the age of 67. The play was graphic in its depiction of the abuse she suffered and there were so many parts of it that I could relate to. I have often wondered when the true healing happens of our life traumas. Is it when we no longer cry as we tell our story? Is it when we no longer feel the need to scream into a pillow? Or is it when we share the story without feeling it so deeply inside our soul? I was able to be the observer of Grandma’s story without cringing, although some in the audience were visibly moved by it. As I later reflected on my own experiences and shared some with my dear friends, I could relate it as an experience. It happened. I had no tears, no regrets, only the lessons learned. Perhaps, I thought, healing is possible of these deep wounds to the soul if we allow it to take place – if we allow ourselves to dig inside and find our why of moving past the past.

Dear Angels, one of the things that irritated Grandma Gatewood was people asking her why she was doing what she was doing, and especially at her age. She always acknowledged the kindness of strangers she met along the way. It made me look at my own journey. I have known from the beginning, almost five years ago, that it is a journey of peace and my mission is to create a grid of positivity across America. It has become so much more, however. It has helped me to truly find my own why. My love of God and my fellow beings here on earth – the two-legged, four-legged and winged ones – has given me a joy that is indescribable and brought me to a place of peace. I feel it is important for each of us to do the deeper dive and search for our why. Like Grandma, I also am very grateful for the kindness of strangers as well as dear friends along my path.

Dear Ones, you are here for a reason. Your presence in this world is not accidental; it is intentional. The divine hand that crafted the stars also carefully placed you on this earth with gifts, talents, and a heart full of love to share. Your "why" is the light that will guide you home to yourself and to the work that you were meant to do. Finding your purpose is not about searching for something outside of yourself—it is about awakening to what has always been within you. Look at what ignites your soul. What brings you peace? What sets your heart ablaze with passion? These are the whispers of your higher self, gently nudging you toward your divine calling. Often, your greatest purpose is born from your deepest wounds. The struggles you have endured, the lessons you have learned—these are not in vain. They have shaped you, strengthened you, and prepared you to serve others who are walking a similar path. Your pain can be transformed into purpose when you choose to use your experiences to bring light to the world. Once you recognize your "why," live it with courage and love. Your purpose is not about grand achievements or worldly success—it is about how much love you pour into everything you do. Whether you are a healer, a teacher, a creator, or a quiet presence of peace in the world, your mission is important. Never underestimate the power of a kind word, a listening ear, or a heart that understands.

Angels Whisper: As you walk this sacred journey, remember that your "why" is not something you have to force. It is something you surrender into. The more you trust in divine timing, the more effortlessly your purpose unfolds before you. Let your heart be open, let your soul be free, and let love be the force that guides you home to yourself. You are a divine masterpiece, created with intention, and here to shine your light. Embrace your purpose, live your "why," and watch as the universe aligns in beautiful harmony around you.

Today, I promise to live each moment focused on my why and acknowledge the kindness of strangers along the way.
