SHINE YOUR LIGHT
“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” Les Brown
Today wrapped up a five-day event called Transplant Games of America. I have spoken with people from all over the country with amazing stories of courage, of triumph and of loss. We all came together because our lives were touched in some way due to a health issue with an organ. I know it is a miracle that I was even able to attend this year as a few weeks ago I was bedridden with an illness that was so devastating to my body that I could barely move. I was meant to be there to share my incredible story of my kidney transplant. I say this because with each person or family I talked to, I heard how it gave them hope and inspiration. A big part of the event is trading pins from our respective states. It is also a competition to see if we can collect all the pins available. I did not get all of them; however, I received three special pins from people I talked to. The last one I received today was a pin a family created for their loved one who lost her battle. She had received a heart and lung transplant and later on a kidney transplant. Her name is Karen Smith and I will cherish this gift from her family. Another lady that I competed against told me she had a special pin for me after hearing my story. The next day I saw her and reminded her that she had something for me. Deb smiled and handed me a pin that brought tears to my eyes. It is a “golden kidney.” It is how I feel about my gifted kidney. It has been pure gold as it has given me 49 more years than I would have lived. There are many more stories and beautiful encounters from my time in Alabama. It gives me hope in humanity that there are so many humble souls who understand and respect the moments we are gifted to be on our journeys.
Dear Angels, sometimes we just need a boost of inspiration to see the world a little differently. I know that our experiences are all lessons, and we have an opportunity to grow from each one. I feel that I have had incremental growth this week.
Dear Ones, when you let your light shine, you will find others’ lights who are there for you to connect with during your lifetime. Step up and look around you. What stories are there to inspire you? Ask questions and listen. Everyone has something of value to share. When you become still, you will hear it. You are all teachers and students of each other. Let the stories you share be ones of inspiration and hope. Share what you have overcome, as there may be someone who needs to hear your message. You may be the difference in their life that allows them to make better choices. You do not have the experiences you are having just for your own benefit. In the scriptures, Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father.” Grow together, Dear Ones. Love and honor your journey and shine your light so brilliantly that it is seen by the stars in the sky.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste, y’all.
Today, I promise to keep shining my light and listening to my fellow beings as they shine theirs.
