Stay Present In The Present

“You don't spill your lies on the pages that I write on.” ― Laura Gentile

Living in the moment is not as easy as it sounds. Every moment we have new experiences that go into our vault which contains all the experiences we have ever had. To truly live in the moment means being present for those new experiences with an open mind unencumbered with the things we dredge into everything we have ever done, said or been. There is no way to distinguish between memories that are accurate representation of event from memories that do not relate to actual events. When we recall a memory we are not replaying a recording, we are reconstructing it from bits of information. Every time a memory is recalled it becomes vulnerable to change. There is a body of evidence demonstrating that people can be induced to remember things that never happened. So…if you think you can remember something that happened accurately, you may want to rethink that thought. Also, this explains what makes gaslighting possible where someone tries to convince another person that an event happened a certain way in order to manipulate them.

Dear Angels, I know we are all here living out our “movies” of this lifetime. From what I am understanding, however, it seems that our memories can be skewed by the things that take place and nothing can be recalled exactly as it happened in the moment it happened. Is this correct?

Dear Ones, indeed you are correct. Perhaps you have heard of the psychological experiments where two or more people remembered the same event very differently. In one scenario, a bank robbery was staged and then participants in the crowd were asked to identify the thieves and in many cases differing descriptions were given. Neither is wrong or right. Each person is coming from a place where there were stressors, memories, triggering emotions, and perhaps brain cells that were altered due to any number of reasons. Sometimes the memories are wiped out altogether. Does this mean that the event did not happen? Absolutely not! We would offer to you, Dear Ones, that it is best for you to live every moment to its fullest and if possible document, that is journal, every day. When you write it down, there is less chance of the event being remembered differently than when it occurred.

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to stay present in the present moment.
