Swing, Batter, Swing
“Life's like a ball game. You gotta take a swing at whatever comes along before you wake up and find out it's the ninth inning.” - Martin Goldsmith
It has been many years since I attended a live baseball game and today broke the streak. I was treated to a spring training game in Phoenix. The stadium was packed and it was a picture perfect weather day for it. Thanks to ShaRon’s daughter Sammy and her boyfriend Dom who both play, we had amazing seats by the home plate. There was lots of laughter, singing, and a feeling of wanting more when it was over. It took me back to my childhood days. In the summertime my brothers would beg me to play baseball with them in the back yard. It was one of our favorite pastimes. As I watched the teams play and observed the team who was behind step up their game and turn things around in one inning, my thoughts focused on how life is that way sometimes. We may be lagging behind, constantly trying to catch up and then all of a sudden take a huge growth spurt where clarity and perseverance leads us into forward momentum
Dear Angels, it seems some big lessons for us as we play on earth’s diamond is to not give up, keep our eye on the ball, and keep swinging.
Dear Ones, as you learn these important lessons about life and navigating through your experiences here, it is important to observe as you are given many examples that will help you. One of the biggest assets you can have in life also shows up as a factor in your sports competitions, and that is your mental attitude. Whether you think you can or not, you are correct. Defeat comes when you think you are defeated. As long as you hold out a glimmer of hope, you have a chance of moving on. If you allow fear in, it can stop your momentum and freeze you where you are. Dear Ones, if you wish to progress in your spiritual growth, pay attention to what you are telling yourself. Not taking a chance means you have already lost out on the experience. If the batter never swings the bat, he forfeits any chance at success. You are always up to bat. Swing, batter, swing. It is more fun to play in the field of possibilities than to sit in the dugout.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to be more observant at my chances in life to swing the bat.
