SWING FOR THE FENCES

"Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” -Babe Ruth

There are many things in life that bring an element of fear. We always have a choice, however, of whether to give into the fear or reach deeper for courage. Life is a series of opportunities, challenges, and moments that require courage. Many of us, however, hold back, paralyzed by the fear of failure. But what if we embraced the wisdom found in the world of baseball? Babe Ruth, one of the greatest players to ever step onto the diamond, taught us an invaluable lesson: success isn’t about avoiding failure—it’s about stepping up to the plate, even when failure is a possibility. Babe Ruth did not start out in life as a champion. He had a rough start in life and made many choices that could have been very detrimental to him as a person. His journey shows us that humble beginnings are never a barrier to greatness. With just a little encouragement from someone who recognized greatness within him, he persevered to become a legend.

Dear Angels, so many times we are unable to see our own greatness. If we only look at our environment, or how we are treated by others or we deal with circumstances beyond our control, we may never achieve our potential.

Dear Ones, how often do you hold back because you are afraid to fail? Perhaps it’s the fear of starting a new job, pursuing a dream, or even reaching out to someone for help. Fear of failure whispers that you’re not good enough, that you might embarrass yourself, or that the risk isn’t worth it. But imagine if Babe Ruth had let fear stop him from swinging. The game of baseball would be poorer for it. The same is true for you—if you let fear keep you from stepping up to the plate, the world will miss out on your gifts. Failure is not final—it’s feedback. Each time you stumble, you learn, grow, and gain wisdom for the journey ahead. Life is like a baseball game; you’re not meant to sit on the bench forever. You are here to step up, to take risks, and to give life your all. In moments when fear arises, call upon us for strength and guidance. We will remind you that every experience, whether a strikeout or a home run, is part of your divine journey. You were created to shine, to take chances, and to live boldly. What dream have you put on hold because you’re afraid of striking out? Today is the day to pick up your bat, step into the batter’s box, and give it your all. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to show up. Play the game, take the swing, and trust that, with every effort, you’re moving closer to your own version of greatness. When fear arises, remember the words of the psalmist, "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?"

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to swing for the fences with each opportunity I am presented with.
