The Five Dollar Bill
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Aesop
A few days ago I visited a park in Twin Falls, Idaho. It was a five-dollar entry to get inside unless you had a national park pass. I have a pass but could not locate it at that moment and luckily I had a five-dollar bill on me. The park attendant looked at me and the items on my dashboard which include a LOVE sign, a buddha and a feather, and an angel, a couple of hearts and a peace sign hanging from the mirror. I had already given him the five as I told him I had misplaced my park pass. He smiled at me and said “I believe you,” as he handed me back the money. I put it back in my wallet and shared the story with friends that night. Yesterday, a dear friend put out a call for help for the Peace On Earth Tour to keep the angelmobile moving along. People responded with such generosity and kindness and words of encouragement that my heart filled with so much love it fell from my eyes in liquid form. As I read email after email and message after message, I understood what truly being blessed meant. I know this is a divine mission and am honored to be taking the journey. After the morning show, I decided to leave my little spot in the rest area and go looking for coffee. I knew there was a Starbucks down the road so I set off in search of my first cup of the day. The angels had other plans for me though. I passed a sign for a truck stop and restaurant coming up. I clearly heard to stop there and my car just obeyed the command. I parked and went inside, finding what I needed and taking it to my car to enjoy. Someone had parked pretty close to me, so I moved my vehicle further away to where I could sit in peace to enjoy my coffee and answer some messages. There was a pickup truck parked in front of me and a man standing by it who waved as I parked. I waved back and thought, wow these people sure are friendly here in Montana. I was just getting ready to make a phone call when he appeared at my window and politely asked if I could help him out with a couple of gallons of gas. I told him that I wish I could but I was struggling also and didn’t have any cash on me. He apologized for interrupting. I returned to what I was doing but very clearly heard “look in your wallet.” Without hesitating, I opened my wallet and sitting there all by its lonesome was the fiver that had been returned to me at the park a couple of days earlier. I grabbed it and jumped out of the car because I knew it had a purpose. I walked up to his truck where he was sitting looking sad and alone. “Would five dollars help?” I asked as I handed it to him. From the look in his eyes, it was as though I had given him a million dollars. He expressed his gratitude and wanted to give me a hug! I watched as he took a gas can to the pump and as he got back in his truck he thanked me again. What the park attendant gave me was not only a day of enjoying the beautiful park for free but the ability to pay it forward in a beautiful way. Eileen Elian Freeman says, “It isn’t the size of the gift that matters, but the size of the heart that gives it.”
Dear Angels, I felt as much joy in being able to assist someone as I felt in receiving the gifts that had been given to me earlier. When I studied The Magic by Rhonda Byrne, I learned to bless the money I sent forth into the world. Today was a gentle reminder to begin that practice again.
Dear Ones, when you allow yourself to become a conduit to shine love and light into the world, opportunities will present themselves to you. Will you allow the blessings that come as you give from the heart, whether it be time, energy or your presence? We assure you that there is just as much energy in that five dollar bill as there would have been in twenty or fifty or more. Whenever you help a fellow being, it is a gift for both of you. Never underestimate the power of love to restore faith in human kindness. Remember that love is an action word. We encourage you, Dear Ones, to take action when you hear the guidance to do so.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to keep shining love and light into the world.
