THE GIFT IN THE STRUGGLE

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.” —Winston Churchill

Have you ever been around someone who has a “reason” why something won’t work – no matter what the idea or solution presented might be? It is very difficult to be in that energy for any length of time. The “glass half empty” attitude does us no favors in difficult times. When we face challenges, our initial reaction often reveals where our heart resides. Do we focus on the mountain ahead, lamenting its height and ruggedness? Or do we see the climb as a chance to grow stronger, to admire a new view, and to conquer fears? The choice is ours, and it shapes not only our journey but also the joy we derive from it. A pessimist sees difficulty as an end, a barrier too vast to overcome. They become entangled in thoughts of “why me?” and “what if I fail?” While it’s human to feel the weight of these thoughts, dwelling in them steals the energy needed to rise above the challenge. The pessimist’s focus narrows, and they miss the gifts hidden in the struggle—resilience, creativity, and the opportunity to inspire others. But life doesn’t have to feel this heavy. Each of us has the power to shift our perspective and embrace the lessons waiting to unfold. I much prefer to be the optimist – one who sees difficulty as a stepping stone, acknowledging the challenge but choosing to view it through a lens of possibility. The optimist asks, “What can I learn here?” or “How can this make me better?” This perspective turns roadblocks into opportunities for transformation. Optimism isn’t about denying the existence of problems; it’s about refusing to let them dictate our potential. It’s a choice to rise above fear and embrace hope. When we approach difficulties this way, they lose their power to defeat us and instead become the catalyst for our greatest growth.

Dear Angels, transforming difficulty into opportunity starts with a conscious decision to change how we think. How can we develop a more optimistic outlook, especially during difficult times or extreme challenges in our lives?

Dear Ones, every difficulty carries a gift, even if it’s not immediately visible. Perhaps it’s the strength to persevere, the humility to seek help, or the wisdom to navigate future challenges with grace. When you face life with an optimistic heart, you align with the flow of divine energy, trusting that all is working together for your good. We invite you to be the optimist who sees opportunity in every difficulty. When life presents you with trials, may you embrace them as sacred moments of transformation. Remember that every masterpiece begins with a blank canvas; it’s how you paint it that makes it extraordinary. In every moment of challenge, there is something to be grateful for—a lesson, a kind word, or even the simple gift of resilience. Gratitude shifts your focus from what’s wrong to what’s right. The energy you allow into your lives shapes your mindset. Spend time with people who lift you up and remind you of your strength. Trust that there is a bigger picture that you may not be fully able to comprehend yet and that it is possible that what feels like a setback is often a setup for a breakthrough. By not jumping to the worst possible outcome, you are opening up to the possibility of a miracle in your life. The psalmist writes, "You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples."

Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.

Today, I promise to look more positively at challenges in my life and wait for the miracles.
