The Second Agreement
“1. Be Impeccable With Your Word Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. 2. Don't Take Anything Personally Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering. 3. Don't Make Assumptions Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. 4. Always Do Your Best Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.” ― Don Miguel Ruiz
The Four Agreements is an awesome teaching and one I refer to a lot. I think #2 is probably the hardest for us humans. It sounds great on paper; however, actually practicing it in reality takes a little work. This is where “stay in your own lane” comes into play. Just be you. Just do your life that you came here to live. Stop trying to micromanage everyone else’s experiences. Great reminder of how to achieve peace and freedom, Don!
Dear Angels, I don’t understand why it is so hard to follow this teaching. What is it that compels us to want to change something about others? We each are living out the script of our movie yet sometimes we find ourselves with many directors in life telling us what to do and when to do it.
Dear Ones, the most important thing for you to pay attention to is your own thoughts and beliefs and how you relate to your higher power. Putting things into perspective in this way will help you choose to allow others to influence you or not. If you are more concerned about what others around you think and say moreso than what God does, then that is something for you to come to terms with. God does not judge or criticize you. There is only love. Plug into that love and stay focused so that you can stay in integrity with your soul purpose.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to look more toward God’s opinion than worldly ones.
