Wake Up Call
“Make an excuse or make a difference. The choice is yours.” Teri Angel
There’s a whole lot of hurting people in the world today. As I sat in silent reverie tonight waiting for the words to flow onto the computer screen, it only seemed to stare back at me with a blank white glare. Usually a thought will begin to form, a story will be brought to memory, or a picture might elicit a special part of the Journey to share. Tonight, it seems the keyboard cried uncle, perhaps crushed underneath the heavy weight of the burdens of the world. “Hello” I typed, “is there anybody out there?” Nothing. A black hole of nothing. Have you ever had so much going on inside of you that nothing seems to gel? Your tongue turns to mush and you are unable to make a coherent sentence? I envisioned I was like that speaker who walks to the podium and stands there looking out at the crowd of half-naked people (yeah, that’s what they teach you to do in public speaking class) and forgets why she’s there. The crowd gets restless and all of a sudden a soft voice says “wait for it.” More shuffling of feet and a collective clearing of throats. I could make an excuse. The mic doesn’t work. Yeah, that’s always a good one! My assistant (I’m sure I have one) is on her way with the slide presentation. “Wait for it,” I heard again. Finally in frustration I cried out “what am I waiting for?” “Exactly! Now we’re getting somewhere,” the voice said.
What are we waiting for as a collective? What are we waiting for as individuals? We have this amazing opportunity that has never been given to an entire worldwide population ever in the history of the earth. We have all been given a wake-up call all at once yet so many have hit the snooze button and rolled over to pull the covers over their head. Excuses abound. I’m tired. I don’t know what to do. I’m scared. I’ll wait for somebody to figure it out. I can’t do this and I can’t do that. The world’s ending and I’ll just sleep through it.
Angels, we are so laden with excuses as we wait for answers. We are like a frozen computer and no matter what button is pushed there is no response. Make it make sense, please.
Dear Ones, we sense your frustration. We watch and wait as you rack your brains for answers, instead of your heart. You are trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. The parts are not fitting so easily, are they? None of you can agree on whether to chop off the parts of the circle to fit the square or to carve out the square to accommodate the circle. You have forgotten how to trust in who you are and the power within you. You are like that speaker at the podium reaching for any excuse, anything outside of you to point a finger at. We invite you to consider that if you stop pointing fingers, stop blaming and shaming and fighting against each other, you will make far more progress together. Yes, we see your feathers ruffling. We see the excuses already forming on your lips. To us it is like static coming across a radio station because nothing is in alignment and it’s all garbled. We are not asking you to solve the puzzle. We are asking you to use the right pieces that belong to the puzzle you are working on. Maybe that square peg belongs to another puzzle and not the one at hand. As long as there is blame and shame going on, nothing will be solved. As long as there are excuses and a wait-and-see attitude, you don’t have all players participating in the team event. Not making a decision is making a decision, a decision to stay a part of the problem and not cohesively seek a solution. Come together, Dear Ones. Get out of the right versus wrong, me versus you mentality. Turn off the snooze button, rise up out of your slumber and listen to each other but most of all listen to God. Excuses will always be there for anyone who chooses to use them. What’s your choice?
Dear Angels, I choose peace. I choose love. I choose to make a difference. Thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
