What Happens In Vegas ....
"The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention" Oscar Wilde
On the road again! What a fantastic day full of beauty – from the sky-high Rockies to the desert of Las Vegas, it was a day full of constantly changing and shifting landscapes. I had a wonderful gift as I left Boulder. Driving toward Denver, I spotted a lone hot air balloon in the early morning sky. I was praying that it wouldn’t land before I could pull over to snap a picture of it against the majestic Rockies and, sure enough, it waited for me! My travel companion for the trip to California turned out to be delightful and chatting made the journey go faster. We stopped in Las Vegas as we were both a bit weary after being on the road for ten hours. We got a room at a really great rate off the strip and I was so ready to stretch out after a day in a car seat. The clerk was overwhelmed and flustered and it was obvious she was having a bad day. It was about to get worse because, unfortunately, the room had not been serviced and was a disaster. We trekked back down to registration after alerting her and she had a very different attitude, very apologetic and magically “found” us another room which was an upgrade from our intended room. As tired as I was, through all her shifting personality quirks I kept thanking her because I just wanted to lay down and also I didn’t think she was hearing many words of gratitude from what I could observe. At the end of our interaction, she was pleasant and exhibited a genuine smile. The new room was wonderful, cool and clean and quiet. All is well in Vegas tonight.
Dear Angels, so many times in our human experience we respond to chaos with frustration, anger and irritation without a thought to what is going on in the other person’s world. I am no saint but tonight it felt good to step back and just allow for a moment of kindness to come through in the midst of what could have been a harrowing experience. It felt good to be able to give compassion and empathy to another person. It is what A Course In Miracles teaches and it was an interesting experience to watch it play out the way it did.
Dear Ones, when you allow it, your true nature will always come forth to spark a light in the darkness. It is good to learn from the teachings of masters, but it is wonderful to live the experience and fully grasp the teaching firsthand. You always have choices in how you respond to others you encounter. When you stay true to who you are, you will always choose to be compassionate as that is your real self. Compassion has the power to inspire and motivate others to act with kindness and empathy. Your compassionate actions can serve as a model for others to follow, creating a ripple effect of kindness and compassion in the world. If you can be anything, be kind.
Dear Angels, thank you. I love you. Namaste y’all.
Today, I promise to be more consciously aware of being compassionate towards others.
